Mandate Outline
Client is a top 3 player and one of the well respected players in the cement industry. Part of a larger, global MNC system, the firm wanted to hire a CA who can lead the Direct Tax for the Rs 30,000cr revenue across two listed firms with plants across the country. The client had significant imports/exports within the group entities outside India.
The client wanted to hire a person who can manage the direct tax and deliver an optimal ETR while strictly adhering to the high compliance, high governance environment. Given the export/import operations, the person would have to deal with APAs and was required to have a good handle on TP. Internally, the person was required to handle a large team (within the DT context) and be capable of taking on larger roles in future.
