Client is a leading, diversified and well-known Indian business house with presence across B2C and B2B segments, with several listed entities. Operating in a semi-federated structure, the group office reviews performance, manages central treasury, strategy and M&A (especially for diversification), while the individual entities manage their own businesses with a large degree of freedom. The mandate was to hire a Group FC who will enable a stringent performance review and management, and follow through on execution, including diffusion of best practices, working closely with the Group Chairman as well as Group CFO.

The client desired to hire someone who has been a CFO already, to come in as Group FC and get elevated to Group CFO in a few years. The ask was for someone from any one of the sectors that the group is present in, with good business acumen and strong influencing skills, as the individual business CEOs were quite independent and the ideas need to be ‘sold’ rather than forced through.
