The client is a major player in the API segment and is globally recognized for its prowess in the API space. As with other pharma players, client too had formulations, which it sells in the regulated markets globally.

Due to covid- and China-induced fragility in the API and Intermediates supply chain, client was looking to backward integrate into key starting materials for the current portfolio of APIs and the significant number of new DMFs that have already been filed for. All of these were focused on the Regulated Markets.

The plan was to initially focus on captive consumption but within a few years, focus also on merchant opportunities for such intermediates, globally. Thus, the ask for the CEO was someone who comes with a Projects background (so that the project can be conceptualized, technology/licenses obtained and commissioned) but also with a commercial background (so that merchant opportunities for intermediates can be captured). Despite it being an unique combination of skills, we found just the right person, who came on board within a short time.
