We analyzed a standard list of 524 firms (ET500 after leaving out PSUs + 100 Unlisted Firms in 20 Sectors) for CEO changes in Calendar Year 2024, as part of our ongoing research to support our clients in the CEO Search Practice.
There were 44 CEO Transitions in the year, translating to 8.4% of the firms studied that have had a CEO Transition. This is about the same as in previous years - 8.0% for CY23 and 8.5% for CY22.
Appetite for hiring CEOs is at a sustained 8-9% level in India Inc and we believe that this would only increase if the economic growth rate increases.
Note that the above analysis is sharply focused on the MD/CEO or the #1 executive, irrespective of the actual designation used. And CEO Changes include both internal elevations as well as external hires.
